This is my parent’s fishery where I have spent many hours fishing!! This is a three lake complex set in beautiful rural North East Cheshire. This is an established commercial day ticket fishery where the wildlife and surroundings can’t be beaten! The lakes Dons, St Mary’s and Woodside are approximately two acres in size offering around seven acres of fly fishing. The emphasis is on sport with dry fly and nymph fishing catching good bags of trout throughout the year. Sport and fish tickets are available. To find out more visit the website at www.martonheath.co.uk
Coarse fishing is also available on the small coarse fishing pool. Bird watching is also available in one of the many bird hides across the farm
Latest Marton Heath Fishing Report
15th July 2015 Things are starting to get tough now as the water temperature increases and the oxygen levels decrease. The trout are becoming lethargic and not keen on racing about! The fishing has been hard but there are some anglers who are still managing to catch. Tactics which have worked have revolved around dry fly fishing. On the overcast windy days the foam daddy and sedge patterns have worked on Mary's and Dons, whilst red and claret bits have worked on Woodside. When the sun is out you need to fish in the shade of any of the trees as the trout move out from the open water to seek cover from the sun. Catching in the sun is almost impossible. Anglers fishing in the early morning have caught the most. If dries dont work then try a single unweighted pink or sunburst blob on a floater. Let sink slowly and then stroke it back.Three of four fish at this time of year is a good score.
Now is the time that I moe onto the rivers and the big waters so if you fancy a day out on the Welsh Dee or Blithfield then give me a call on 07736 453873.
